The UFC is very known for their very under paying contracts for such a dangerous job. Big sports organisations such as the NBA, the NFL, and FIFA tend to pay their athletes a lot of money for their contracts based on the revenue that the sport generates. The UFC is a company that pays their athletes only 18.6% of their total revenues which is very low especially for such a dangerous sport, for example the NBA pays 50%. Useless to remind people that the athletes in this sport are at a very high risk of bad injuries during their fights and even their training such as concussions, broken bones, and severe cuts. 18.6% of the total revenue is four times less than what Major League Soccer pays their athletes for example. In the UFC, the lowest pay a fighter could get is 10,000$ for a fight which is very low for what’s at stake for the fighter in this sport.
According to a study in November 2020, almost 43% of all the fighters in the UFC made less than the $45,000 median yearly earnings. It is very unacceptable considering that the UFC generates enough money to pay their athletes way more money while still making huge profit as a company.
